I put this in 1st Gen. and then saw this forum.

I have an '02 TRD ext. cab (90K). My father-in-law passed away in January and mother-in-law wanted us to have it. The tires are almost worn out and 10 years old. I am replacing with 265/75/16 from stock and am down to the following two choices:

    **Firestone Destination A/T
    or
    **Nitto Terra Grappler

I also looked at Duratracs based on someone's recommendation but they seem almost a mud tire.

I do mostly road driving but we a hunting cabin which requires climbing a jeep trail (think red clay) about 1K feet up with ruts, river rocks and is a couple miles long. Sometimes it is covered in snow.

I know the BFG A/T is popular but I have leaned to the other choices above.

    All help appreciated.

I have not been overly happy with the Destination's for my big truck and will get something else when the time comes. They wear fairly quick and somewhat unevenly. I have no experience with the Grapplers. I will say the BFG TKO ATs I have run on my Tacoma were awesome.

Loved BFG ATs on our Chevrolet 4x4.

The nittos are a soft compound friend had them and they wore out kinda fast, his truck was a dd, light trail use he only got about 25,000 miles out of the set, he now has hankook dynapro ATMs and they still look new with almost 18,000 miles on them, only complant he has was they're available in a pmetric or load range e in a 266/75/16for your application I would strongly recomend the bfg all terrains

The older Nittos had issues with premature tread wear. Out of the ones you listed, the Nitto are the best. Leaps and bounds better off road than the BFG's, and much better all around than the Destination AT's
