I found rust on both seat slider brackets & springs of my 09 Taco. I have a feeling that toyota will not cover this under warranty. If I have to I will remove the seats myself and paint the brackets (if its possible to remove them from the truck) Has anyone ever attempted this? Or ever had a rust problem under their seats. Its surface rust but red rust none the less, not good.

    It is called Humidity.
    They all do it.
No warranty coverage, there is nothing for Toyota to cover.
If you paint it it will just rust again.

Just grease the friction points and let it go.

Yes many seats have been taken in and out, like four bolts a seat. If you're that worried get some stuff called POR 15, and apply it to the rusted areas or the rest if you want once you take your seats out, it should stop the rust. And just lube it up after like he ^ said and you'll be fine. Those brackets are thick metal, it's not like they're going to rust thru and cause a real problem anyway.

Thx guys, this is my first toyota, and first truck. I didn't think it would rust through but also didn't expect to see red rust covering the seat brackets. If this is a pretty normal thing and its not just my truck then I wont worry about it too much. I just hate to see the red rust dust in the carpeting.
