Long term I'm upgrading my electrical system to run air compressor, fridge, and winch. I've completed upgrading to dual batteries (yellow optima's) and hooking up a IBS system to control the charging (still need to clean up the wires):) and have hooked up a 100amp circuit breaker to power my new circuit block (which hasn't arrived yet).
So here my situation, I'm taking my family from Denver through Yellowstone and up to Glacier NP this next month. I can't afford a proper off-road fridge at the moment, so I'm using my old mini fridge from college plugged into the bed. My daughter is only 8 months old, so I need to keep her home made baby food cold thru out the trip while camping.
I temporarily ran power directly to the IG1 circuit (added a in-line 10a fuse) to give my switch and relay power, I had planned to pull the 100amp (100A AC SKT) fuse and bypass it directly to my circuit breaker to run the plug off my aux battery while the truck is not running. When I powered up my circuit breaker I noticed there was a lot more being energize than just my switch and relay. This was planned to be a temporary solution, but could I cause damage to the rest of the circuit by back feeding the power like this?

I don't see that you would be risking damage to the other circuits, but anything that is energized will draw power. This will result in draining the second battery a lot faster than you expected.

yeah, I couldn't think how it could damage anything else, but then i read all the items that are powered by that circuit and started getting worried. I guess I'd feel more comfortable if i knew it was only sending enough power for switches to open relays. I don't like taking short cuts but this one should work in theory... then again so did communism. :D thanks for the second opinion
