I replaced the clutch on my 2005 Tacoma Base model about 6 months ago as I was pulling a boat alot and at 120K miles the original one was slipping. Everything went fine and it worked perfectly for about 20k miles now at 140K and not pulling boat any more but I am hearing this clicking sound during acceleration, sounds like the fingers on the pressure plate are hitting something...Sounds like a rather expensive thumb piano....Does any one have any idea what it may be. There is no other obvious sound or performance issues. My guess is that something is preventing the throwout bearing from fully disengaging from the pressure plate fingers. Any ideas or suggestions appreciated.

Someone put zipties on your drive-shaft?

Does it happen at idle with you foot off of the clutch pedal?

No it only happens when in gear and accelerating. Today it started a mild shudder during acceleration Yikes. I drove it back to the house as I dont want to get stranded.... I think I will drop the transmission tomorrow and have a look. I am thinking i didnt grease the throw out bearing enough and its not throwing out far enough to clear the fingers on the pressure plate. I did not locktite my flywheel bolts as I didnt know I was supposed to, they were torqued to proper amount though.... The shudder made me think it was a drive line issue though cant figure out the clicky grindy sound.....could have sworn it sounded like the fingers on the pressure plate.....
    Thanks again

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
Maybe the torsional coil springs in combination with the throwout bearing as you mentioned above? Just spit balling ideas.

Once you get it dropped I hope the problem is easily found. Thats no bueno.

Jack the rear up. Put the trans in neutral, and rotate the wheels. If you hear a clunking sound, then disconnect the drive shaft. Rotate the drive shaft, and rotate the wheels independently of each other.

    That should direct you better.

If the engine is idling with trans in neutral, the TOB should not be touching the pressure plate and making any noise, unless the TOB is bad and you have a chirp. The same is true if in gear driving. The TOB shouldn't be touching the pressure plate. There should be a few thousandths gap. So that shouldn't be where the noise is coming from, unless a pressure plate finger is damaged. But then it would hit all of time.

Havent tried jacking the rear up yet but I did craw under and with my hand pressed the throw out lever and I can hear the clicking tink sound. I am now sure that its coming from the pressure plate.... What could have caused a finger to be damaged??? any ideas?

From advanced discount auto think it was a perfection brand...is that bad?
Drove home from work today and the shudder was very very noticeable, not so much click or tick but the shudder was almost enough to make me pull over and walk it home.
