This is a truck that I brought back to life from being a fresh water flood truck. Has about 84k miles on it. I also own a DCLB which rides fine, but this one beats me up. It rides this way unloaded. While I know the shorter wheelbase doesn't help but damn.

Will the dealer even cover this at 84k? I'll have to check if it's even done. Has anyone played with other spring combo's? Maybe 4cyl prerunner springs up front/back?

I currently have a regular 4cyl SCLB I could use the rear springs from..might consider that.

Any help would be great. thankyou.

The rear has 3 leafs, two regular and one overload. The overload isn't even close to contact with the main leafs (on the ends). The front feels stiff too.

Is it a TRD offroad if so they use a different rate and style spring up front.

    Linear vs progressive.

Sport and SR5 are softer riding than the offroad models.

Besides that the only other reason I could see is the long bed is a longer wheelbase as you stated so it will ride better as well.

    Are the tires overinflated?

Otherwise, ditch the black tokico shocks if that is what's on there, and put some near new trd billstien take-offs or new billy 5100s on it, the tokico shocks leave a bit to be desired especially with age and milage.

So I did a little bounce test on the back of the three trucks. Yeah my DCSB was obviously the stiffest. The 4cyl was the softest. While this doesn't suprise me, it did give me reference to 'feel'. So when I get the chance I think I'll be doing a switch a roo.

Landphil- Ok, I'll try taking off the rear shocks first and do another 'bounce test' just to be sure. Front is still stiff too.

I don't believe this is a sport or TRD. Might be SR5 model but there are no emblems on the tailgate.

OK to whom it may concern- I disconnected the Bilstein shocks and holy crap what a difference. I put on some Tokico shocks and appears to be normal. Still need to test drive.
