First post first lift need help.

Need help lifting my soon to be truck.
On order from Texas thanks to dealership sold it while I was doing paper work
2013 tacoma trd automatic v6 4x4 crew cab
This is my first lift and have been reading a lot of forums but still need to do research. My budget is somewhat tight I can pick up extra days at work to cover cost. Lift hoping to spend 1500 i will be taking on this project myself with help from forums and Youtube. wheels and tires I haven't researched enough to know the cost

I'm looking into getting the
3" lift kit with bilstein 5100 height adj. coil overs

Rear lift options- cs047r Dakar complete leaf springs

Front diff drop kit: add 4x4 ?

Rear shock options 5100 rear shocks

Do I need uca? Not 100 % on tire size yet. But wheels most likely 16
Any help is appreciated.

 

Just install the full OME package and walk away from the truck. 885s up front, Dakars out back, nitrochargers all around. You probably wont need UCA's, but if you do you've spent all of your budget and then some.

Front diff drop is pointless.

Save up some coin and then go out looking for wheels and tires.

 

Quick update.

Use truck for moderate off road
-Virgin Utah down hill mountain biking
-Camping where only a few can get
- riding dirtbikes in the sand dunes
- on road for stay at home mom with 2 year old son since I have a company vehicle

 

This is pretty accurate but I'd still get the UCAs. The $1500 doesn't include wheels and tires I hope.

 

This ^^, except I would recommend UCA's. LR UCAs can be picked up fairly cheap from FatBobs or MetalTech as well as group buys. You can get by without them for a while, but I don't recommend it for long.

Check around on downsouthmotorsports.com and other sites. Grab a buddy and do the work yourself, saves a ton of money on labor.

Definitely no diff drop heard a lot of pointless reviews on that.

 

If he goes 3" he will most likely need UCA's. There can be a big difference in drivability with within spec and dead on. Agree with diff drop on a 2nd gen it's useless. Also agree with OME kit with 885's.

 

No just the lift. Wheels and tires will be separate
If I need the uca that will be separate also

 

Mine was about $2700 with full OME kit with Dakars assembled, LR UCA's and tires on stock off road wheels.

 

I would agree with both of you 100% if he were to try and go any higher, for example: 885x w/ 1/4" top plate spacer. Each truck is different, some need the UCA to get a good alignment, while others don't. Most people don't get coil-on-UCA rub, while others do. That said, it sounded like OP is on a budget and if he can get away without UCAs for a couple months and then install them as he is able that's ok too so long as the alignment is good.

I'd get UCAs. Also your original option would work just fine as well I had that setup with no complaints. Cant go wrong with either setup.

You can get away with a true 33" tire (with a properly backspaced wheel) if you don't get too crazy on the width. If you want to go wide you'll have to do some trimming on a new truck you probably don't want to do. I can tell you from experience on an OME setup that I got a 32.6" tire in there at 275 width, minor rubbing on the flimsy plastic fender liner.

Check out the tire size calculator under the "mods & tutorials above". If you run a true 32" A/T or M/T tire it'll look pretty agressive and you'll be able to fully stuff the tires offroad without any trouble.
