I just bought a '07 Tacoma TRD with low-ish miles (126000 KM - its Canadian) and automatic transmission.
Overall Im pretty happy with the truck, however, after driving it home from Toronto to Ottawa I noticed that when Im stopped with the the Truck in drive, there is a rattle noise along with an intermitant squeaking noise coming from underneath. Seems like its coming from the drive shaft...maybe towards the front.

However, while still stopped if I put it in park or neutral, the noise stops.

Now I've had a read of some threads where others have had noises coming from the drive shaft, but the description of the noise and when it happens seems slightly different then what I've got going on...hence the reason for creating this thread.

I don't get a clunking noise when taking off and I don't notice any noise while driving at speed...at least I can't really tell with road noise, so if there is noise while driving its obviously not that loud.

Other then that the truck seems fine. Its my first 4WD drive vehicle so maybe its just me being paranoid and not knowing the truck yet. Is this something to worry about??

Check your exhaust. My truck is a Manuel but at low rpm I have a slight squeak/rattle and I can reproduce it be wiggling the exhaust. I just haven't had time to pin point exactly where it's coming from.

I have a rattle that's been driving me nuts crawled under the truck yesterday and noticed that one of me cat. shields is missing on the pass. side and the one on the driver side is broken and part of it slide down and is touching the cross member. It only rattles at random rpm's. Not sure if that's your problem but worth checking.

Yeah...I was actually thinking it might be a loose heat shield type thing.....I have yet to get underneath it to have a look. Gonna see what I can see tonight after work though.
