Last month, I had the Spiral Cable Recall performed and now my left turn-signal indicator flashes constantly and will not cancel. Has any one else had this issue?

The symptoms are when the ignition is on:
    • the left turn-signal flashes constantly...both the green dash arrow and the outside front and rear lights flash....the stalk can be in the left and middle (neutral) positions and the left indicator lights still flash constantly
    • when the stalk is moved to the right indicator position, the right lights flash but the left lights also continue to flash as well
    • when the hazard button is press, all indicator lights work as they should
    • when the steering wheel is turned left and returned, the cancel mechanism cycles but the left turn-signal doesn't stop flashing
    • when the steering wheel is turned right and returned, the cancel mechanism cylces and the right turn signal stops but the left turn-signal still continues to flash
    • only when the stalk is moved forward to the high beam position or pulled back to the high beam flash position does the left turn-signal flashing stop and everything works normally.
I am heading back to the dealer today but wanted to arm myself with any knowledge from the Forum that I can get. It sounds like a stalk issue but are there any grounds that need to be looked at or any other possible reasons why this is occuring.

The turn-signals have worked flawlessly for almost 100K and only when the steering column was messed with for the recall did this problem occur.

If that's the case, you need to take the truck back and tell them whats going on, they obviously F*ked with something they weren't supposed to, and you need to get them to fix it.

That's what I'm doing... I am sitting in the Customer Waiting Area after taking it back.

When i pulled into the Service Lane, one Service Writer came up and watched me demonstrate the issue....he immediately took me into the desk area to pass me off to the original Service Writer. This second guy did noteven look at the truck or even listen to me explain the told me explain the problem. The first words out if his mouth were, "I'm gonna tell you that this is not a result of the work we did." I immediately escalated to the Service Director. However, this is why I was asking earlier about possible tangible reasons for the issue. The Master Tech is looking at it now....

Pinched and grounded wire? OP are you over 65, with a head of white hair and can barely see over the wheel? If so, this is normal for your age group

WTF?!?!? Thanks for the f'n insulting post. My sheer AWESOMENESS probably confused you and you interpreted it as experience and age.....btw, I am very tall :D.

Plus, I didn't say anything about "pinched" but that is probably the only thing in your post that could be construed as helpful. Also, grounds or shorts causing a ground are some of the first things to check when trouble-shooting an electrical issue.

Toyota paid for the repair under the recall. If the dealer messed up the repair then it's under their dime so that's why was trying to cover their butt and pawn the cost of fixing it on you.

    OP relax.....you obviously can't take a joke. ;)

If you're at the dealer getting it fixed, why are you asking us amateurs what could be wrong

I can def take a joke...didn't you see the :D in my post?

Btw, if you would note there was a time span between my first post where I stated my problem & mentioned that I was heading to the dealer and the one +2 hours later when I said I was now at the dealer....or did you mean it as a joke? :D :D

@Hans, that is exactly what they were trying...and was why I bumped it to the Service Director. They ordered the part and said they'd fix it.

    Thanks
