I've had my 2010 TRD Sport Tacoma for a few years now. Its been kept stock ever since, but with work going good I finally got the "approval" from my wife to make some upgrades on our truck. :D

The truck is usually used as my commuter (20 miles highway/one way), but we like to get out and camp/hike as much as we can.

So for my first upgrade I'd like to switch out my tires and rims especially since my stock hub caps were stolen. Rim size isn't that important to me, but maybe a little more tire height would be nice. Any suggestions on a tire and rim combination would be great.

I'm sure lots of newbies like me ask for help on making decisions on their upgrades, but I just want to make sure I'm making the smartest decisions for our truck. Also, my truck is a blank canvas so any advice to make our truck more outdoor friendly would be awesome. So, any tips on racks, boxes, steps, light, etc. would be great as well!!!

You can always do the standard tw special, get 5100s all around and level up the front. Pick any rim design you like and get one tire size bigger then stock but since you commute I would recommend a more on road friendly tire that would help the mpg a tad vs a meaty all terrain tire

Thanks for the posts. I've been looking in to a sort of in between road friendly and meaty tire. So far the Firestone Destination A/T has caught my attention. As far as the tw special, I probably won't be getting a lift done any time soon, but I am leaning towards moving a tire size larger.

Any tire or rim brands you might lean towards?

Nice to know there's someone else from SB in this forum.

Can you recommend any shops out here to get work done?
