New Car Break In

Good thing you don't have a jeep or ford... You'd be broken down

 

I hear ya. I pulled a trailer the day after I picked it up. Less than 100 miles on it! Whoops.

 

Just drive the speed limit, drive normal and don't think to much about it.

Drive easy for the first thousand or so, avoid any one speed in paticular (i.e. no cruise control). I personally changed the oil after 1000 miles, then every 5000 thereafter (although that is unnessiary). If I could do it over, I would completely flush the transmission fluid after the first 5000 miles (automotive studies have shown that 90% of transmission fluid contamination happens within the first 5000 miles of the transmissions life).

 

My wife ended up driving it the day after I bought it, so much for the break-in process. At least it didn't come back covered in dents.

 

This is what I did. All the owners that didn't follow these procedures did it WRONG. Also, I didn't throw away perfectly good oil & a perfectly good oil filter at the end of the first 1000 miles either.
