    Hi,

    I've got myself a '13 V6 SR5 Doublecab Trusty Tacoma.

I'm about to make a 800 mile drive from central California to central Washington. Me, and two other mechanics will be attending a service training school. I would estimate that our combined weight is ~500 lbs. We will probably have ~100 lbs. supplies/luggage with us on the drive.

I'd like to drive back to CA, 800 miles, with a load of parts that we will use on the machines we are attending service training for.

What would you say would be an acceptable amount of cargo weight to carry back with us in the bed of the truck? 1000 lbs.? 500 lbs.? I'd like to not destroy the MPG if possible, as well as not put extra wear on the pickup.

    Thanks! :)

Oh, and bring a camera! The drive between Redding and Mt Shasta is absolutely gorgeous... nice mountains, Shasta Dam, scenic lakes. Tho driving up and down thru all the mountains is gonna hurt the mpg.

If you are on stock leaf packs you and 2 buddies will most likely be on the bumpstops as it is , haha

    haha

but really OP, id say that you could prob do about 500-600lbs of tools and be fine...here is my 2011 sitting with like 700ish lbs of red mulch...this is about where you would be at with gear and passengers...ride was fine and mpg didn't appear to be bad...

    Short Bed.

I haven't bothered to check the rear leaf springs. I also haven't changed any suspension-related parts & everything is factory original.

I'm definitely bringing a camera. The last road trip I took was from Central CA to Grand Rapids, MI & I didn't take a single shot! Doh.

    Thanks for the input =).
