hahah right! I took it to two different Toyota dealerships before i Went and did the insurance inspection/estimate. They both said it would be about $900 for them to make it look new. I went there so when I went to talk to the Inspector I wasn't empty handed and i knew how much my shop said it would be. So when the inspector looked it over and we chatted for a bit and he said it would be a little over $2k to fix it so i just went with it. I agree im gonna buy a bigger stronger bumper and keep the left over for a special occasion. How much would i sell it for?

They wrote up new bumper and plastic pieces, new mounting hardware, Paint on the new bumper and the two sides of the fenders that got chipped from it bending down, new clear coat on each side of the bed, parts and labor.

Just a bunch of old crap
I got rear ended a couple years ago. The other driver's insurance sent out a guy and he quoted me right about $4300 in repairs and said "we can either cut you a check or you can take it into your shop of choice". I did some homework and got 2 quotes done at 2 recommended body shops. A big part of my truck's estimate was to pull off the bed and fix the back of the cab for "bed slap". Well, I couldn't even see the paint damage back there, so by taking that off the estimate and a couple other very minor fixes, I could get the body shop to fix the tailgate, both rear fenders that had a couple scratches on them, and install my new plate bumper for $1800. So, I went in on a group buy and bought my rear AND front plate bumpers plus some suspension stuff AND my sliders AND my winch and I think I ended up paying $300 out of pocket by the time it was all said and done.

If they have good insurance, get them to quote it out. Then you go to a couple body shops and get CASH estimates (don't tell them you have an insurance quote, tell them you are paying out of your own pocket). Get them to fix it for that amount, and pocket the rest or work a deal to get the plate bumper.

I saved on the bed slap fix, saved on the cost of replacing with a painted factory bumper, and saved on replacing my factory hitch. Unbelievable that the bed slap fix (almost all because of labor) was over $2k of the cost for two dings in the paint and no damage to the actual bed itself.

JUST MAKE SURE THAT THE FRAME IS REALLY CHECKED WELL. Mine had two small bends in the very tail tabs of my frame where my hitch was mounted, but a frame rack straightened those out just fine and it didn't affect the integrity of the main box of my frame.

edit: I see you already took the payout option. You'll be better off, my friend. Spend it wisely.

Yea I ended up getting the check. The only thing that was wrong with my truck was the bumper and two small chips in the paint between the bumper and bed(very hard to see). The quoted me at about $2100 and so I just bought a rear bumper with a swing out tire gate that has rotopax mounts on it.. Waiting for that to come in:)))) soon:) and some touch up paint. but all in all I came out with cash in the end so I'm not happy about it all but I'm glad I'm getting some "Free" upgrades.
