    I have a 2008 Tacoma PreRunner
    265 75 16 Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac
The rest of the truck is stock.

My question is this do I have to or should I replace the catalytic converter it is 5 years old. Please advise. Yes I did look before asking I used the search feature.

I intend to replace the headers and exhaust cai ordered today K&N plastic tube style. I had the stainless type for my Avalanche and I did not like the look after a few months of use in Michigan weather. I think I have made my choice in headers.

For those that don't like to link click here is the part # [THY-515-1-C]

Why would you have to replace the cats if they aren't bad? You don't need to replace them unless that happens.. And 5 years isn't old at all. If you want to get rid of your cats all together then go with long tubes. But you'll need o2 simulators.

I do not want to replace the cat. I just wanted a group consensus about replacement. I was fairly sure it was not required unless it was bad. I am moving to a state where they have yearly inspections on your vehicle. I have to keep the cat in the vehicle.
