I'm planning on redoing my audio setup here in the next few months and have a question about sound deadening.

When I originally removed the child seat restraints/hooks (not sure what to call them) I think I beat the hooks that were welded to the crossbar pretty hard in my attempt to remove the hooks. I'm not 100 percent, as there is now a massive box back there, but think that cross bar might be a source to the vibrating I hear.

I was wondering if there is anything I can put in that cross bar to reduce possible vibrations from there? I was thinking about that expanding foam you can buy in a spray can from Home Depot. I'm not sure if this would even help, and if it did help would it smell?

Unlike this photo, I plan on doing the entire back wall, not making cutout for that crossbar...

filling that cross bar wouldn't hurt, be sure to leave those cab vents open though, it'll improve the HVAC system function and actually allow you to close your doors when the windows are up.

some of the noise you may be hearing is the roof vibrating too, i had a pair of sundown SA12's in a box tuned stupid low on ~1300w in an access cab, i used to get all kinds of crazy vibe/rattles back there.

Do you have a sliding rear window or solid? I can't tell from the pics

Those child hooks pop right off by drilling the welds, all of which is already covered on a few different discussions. There is also no need to sound deaden the entire back wall. I was able to just place pieces into each of the indentations, covered by the ensolite foam. See my thread here....
(Page 2 covers the back wall.)

I don't experience any vibrations, I've been extremely happy with my setup.

Let me know if you have any questions.

It might be your back window vibrating. Check that first.

expanding foam would not hurt, but like mentioned, leave any outside vents fully functional. also, in the event of a fire, that foam will produce a toxic gas (from what ive read) but you would have to be a moron to hangout inside the truck if its on fire haha, so shouldnt be a concern.

Yeah when I removed the hooks I didn't even think to check the forums first. It was more or less my impatient step dad saw what I was doing and tried to "help" by drilling them out which is fine), followed by BASHING them with a hammer. . .

Off hand I dont know where those vents are, but I've seen them on a lot of vehicles at work so I know what to look for.

I should have explained that the photos were not of my truck, I just came across them here on the forum and figured a picture is worth a thousand words. So in answer to your question, I do have a sliding window in the rear.

I dont plan on having my truck get set on fire anytime soon, so I think I will be ok there ;)

I'm still tossing up to go through Mr. Marv or ProBox. My brother has a Probox in his F150 and it POUNDS!

PS: Thanks for the link, I actually came across that thread about 20 minutes before I posted.
