A guy I work with and drinking buddy of mine has a 2012 Tacoma, his truck was having problems starting, it would act like its about to turn over then it would just die on the 1st crank of the key. The 2nd crank it would fire right up. So he took it to a dealership to have them look at it and they tell him the camshaft is broke. His truck only has 15,000 miles on it. Has anyone else had problems like this at such low mileage? My 2013 just hit 5,000 miles I'll be damned if I need problems like that.

He had to hear them wrong, or explained it wrong to you. If camshaft was broken. it would run at all. It may have jumped a tooth.

Things are going to break, things are going to fail. You can't go through life worrying about it.

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Sounds like a sensor problem. A busted camshaft basically means 1/2 of the engine isn't going to fire at all and any issues that causes to with the other camshaft (by way of the timing chain) means the other half probably won't fire, either.

CPS's go bad. There are Ford F-250 guys that keep spares in the glove box.
