any recommendations on good affordable lift kits ? I want to throw some 265/70/17 or so on my truck. the lighter the better since I only have a 4cyl and don't want to lose too much power

For tires, stay with P265/70R17 to help save weight. They'll still be plenty strong enough to support any weight the Tacoma is rated to tow/haul but weigh less than LT tires.

For a lift, can't go wrong with the OME kit or a spindle lift if you're 4x2.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
Light lift? Do you mean you want just a small lift? If that's the case, eibach coils for 2nd gens only provide 1.5" of lift. If your wanting 3"s then go OME or spindal lift if your a PreRunner.

you can run that size without a lift, stay with a p metric to save weight. i am assuming you are 4wd. i ran Toytec 3" with aal for over 7 years with no problems, the one with 885 coils but i am 4wd dblcab.

Thanks for a the replys, The truck is a 2wd and it is not a PreRunner. I would preffer not to spend more than 2,000 for tires, wheels, lift

What are you trying to achieve that you could not get by buying a PreRunner?
