So I was a little worried about using my stock trd coils on a 5100 set up becuase there seemed to be a lot of chatter about a rough ride. Well, after being installed last night at 2.5", they feel great. Just thought I would share my pleasant surprise.

Good to hear. I am thinking of doing the same. Could you post a pic or two?

I was going to do that, too, but ended up getting the Eibach's. I did read something on here about it being a little rougher on the stock springs because they're stretched or something, but as long as your ride is smooth, that's good to hear!

I've had mine that way for two years, no issues alignment or tire wear wise. No aftermarket UCA's.

What setting did you put the Bilstein's on? When I put mine on 0" with Eibach springs and stock UCA's, my front end was out of whack big time. I guess the Eibach's mess up the alignment

Alignment was definitely a must; however, I did need or do UCAs. I forgot to mention that I also put a 1/4" spacer on each side t o achieve 3".

Oh okay. Same here. After the alignment, mine has been golden. I thought you were saying you didn't even get an alignment. My bad

Alignment being okay as far as tire wear and alignment being okay as far as no tire wear AND truck not feeling weird because caster isn't right are 2 different things. Going 2.5 or higher there is no way the caster adjustment is in spec without jacking with camber setting. There is no way to have both correct with the oem adjusters and lifting that much. Caster being off will not wear tires but it will be annoying compared to having correct caster. All you guys with golden alignments after lifting this much post up your current alignment sheets and let's have a look at the caster settings. It may feel OK to you but I gaurantee that when the caster is really right it will feel so much better and planted vs. that skittery groove grabbing always driving in high wind affect I'm betting you really have without UCAs. I thought the same thing when first lifting the 05............until I got UCAs. World of difference. My 08 is lifted 1.75 up front and camber is correct and caster is only 1.6 and even tho it's tolerable, I want UCAs on this one just as much as I did on the 05. Get them when you can, it'll be worth it. 2.4 of caster is the "golden" area with toe and camber being in zeroland. Anything very far off that is just a sales pitch to cope.

I do want to get UCA's in the future @ I don't doubt one bit it improves the ride, I'm not arguing that one bit. I'm simply saying that for two years going without them that at any speed to included hwy speed, my truck has never felt jittery/squirrely or unsafe. I know different trucks behave differently when lifted but mine has been just fine, don't need to post pics of alignment numbers to know it's good the way it is. If it gets WAY better with UCA's then that's awesome, I will know eventually.

5100's front and rear, front 2.5" rear 2" AAL, 18% tint front and rear, color matched grill. SCS wheels 275/70/17 BFG AT KO's. DTRL toggle switch.
Well I have been on stock coils at 2.5" for 15K and it sucks. It might seem ok now but over time you will notice especially when you ride or drive another vehicle then get back in your tuck. I have UCA's so it drives correctly but way to stiff. I'm ordering OME 885's in the next few days.
