Hey everyone, thanks for checking out the thread.

Recently purchased a 98 Tacoma that I plan on refurbishing slowly, and will thank in advance for the advice and knowledge you all provide.
I'll start with a couple simple questions, also FYI i'm a 22yo Carpenter w/ very little mechanical experience.

    1) The gas pedal had a strong stick that is much better after removing/cleaning the spring and oiling up the cable, but I would like to also clean the throttle body if anyone knows a safe way to w/o removing.

    2) The truck has a hood scoop for the air intake, and would like to eventually upgrade the system when funds permit. For now is there a simple way to reverse back to original so I can buy a new hood?

    3) Last question is general advice I guess, I plan on painting the truck and figure it would probably be best to before I change out/upgrade a lot of the original parts (door handles, mirrors, fender flares, radiator grille, bumpers, etc..) perhaps it doesn't make much of a difference?

Considering #3, I'm always open to views and opinions as to what could be done, maybe something I'm missing?

    Thanks for reading!

Welcome! You should post your questions in the 1st Gen section.

For #3, I would just restore these parts rather than buying new ones. You can paint/dye them, Plasti-Dip them, or use spray-on bedliner, which is what I have done, to make them look new again.
