Help me out tacomaworld. I'm considering purchasing a 2004 tacoma 3.4L V6 prerunner with TRD package with 69k miles. Automatic transmission, New Michelin Tire with 90% tread, K&N Cold Air Intake and Magna Flow Exhuast (full thing , not just the tip). Owner is asking $15 thousand. Is this a worthy deal or am I getting shammed?

sounds way high for a non 4x4 but seeing you are from socal maybe the undercarriage is in immaculate shape? In the rust belt here the first thing I would look at is rust issues and if major maintenance items or repairs have been done.

I'd say no deal, only because of the price. For the same amount, you should be able to get a 4x4 model in comparable condition. I purchased my '04 double cab/ TRD/ 4wd for $15k with 48k on the odo.

With that said, do what makes YOU happy. If you've been shopping around for a while and this seems to be the one, go for it, and don't look back! Or, if you can negotiate the price a lil bit, then it may be worth it after all.

    Good Luck!

Too high. But if there are no other options (like he said) and it's worth it to you then it is. I paid a little "too much" for my 93 Pickup, but then again I had been searching for a couple years and when this one popped up it was low miles, great condition and about to sell to whoever came up with the cash first.

I would assume in your area though you could find other and better priced options. Unless needing a truck is a pressing or urgent matter I would wait for a better deal.

Yea I would get him to come off of it a bit. I purchased my 04 Four door Prerunner that had 44k back in 2007 for 13,900. That's been many moons ago and it was a four door. So if this guy actually thinks he can get 14k out of a 10 year old truck he's crazy.

Way too high however, Gen 1's always go for a premium in SoCal.
    I paid only $14600 for my 02 TRD V6 4wd with 14450 miles 3months ago.
Be willing to travel if you want a deal, providing there is no heavy Kali import tax.

Scary thing is that it is not that far off in price.. I'm in San Diego & have owned toyota trucks from the 90s to now & all were Great!!!! Clean, low mileage tacomas are hard to locate & when you do locate one they want $$$$$!
I have never seen anything like what is going on with the price of 01-04 Tacomas!!! WOW!!! they are asking so much for 10yr old truck with Hi miles. The one you found, They are asking Dealer price but they obviously have done their research & know what they have.
What are your requirements, 4x4, E-Locker & $$$ situation? Also it is important you like the truck, color, style & trim pkg..
If this is the one you have been searching for, attempt to get them down.
but be ready to walk away, find one in your budget
Keep us posted.. Where in so cal are you?

My Truck is worth more to ME than that. Im about 73K miles on my TRD 2003 V6 4x4 and wouldn't take less than 20K for it. If you want it bad enough yes. They are hard to find man.

I would say try to negotiate the price. Thats a bit steep. You could get a new body style for that money. Guy wanted $7500 for mine but haggled him down to $6000. 01 double cab with 155k miles. Has some issues with it, but none that should be too expensive
