    Guys,

Just to be clear, I am going to need new bushings.....correct?

Is there any chance they can do the job and NOT replace them?

This is a "warranty" job, and I am worried that they may cut corners to save themselves some cash. My warranty is over in around 4 months.

Any idea how much it would cost to offer to pay for the tie rods while they are in there?

I wonder if I can save some money since they are in there anyway. On the other hand, I dont want to get over-charged in their attempt to minimize thier loss on fixing the rack.

    Thanks for any input,

    David

I think the best thing to do would replace the rack with a new that has new inner tie rods already on it. Ivwould go ahead and order the new bushings from wheelers and tell them you have them and want them installed while its out. Im not sure where its leaking from but usually at that point its replacement time for the rack. They are gonna cut corners and try to salvage the rack im sure. Good luck to ya.

your bushings are shot, they have to remove the whole dang thing to replace it, you should take advantage now, so much easier...

if you do not replace, waste of time and $$$$$....plus it will steer like shiza and be impossible to align properly, your choice...

warranty???? buy the extra parts, give them the parts, have them install the parts, DO IT RIGHT...

    OME and worth every penny.
yes, they'll prob. just "fix the leak" since that's all the war. calls for. Ask if you can supply a new rack and bushings and if they'll install it for you to make up their part. It will save them time disassembling the rack and fixing and you get peace of mind for the future.

These trucks are great for the long haul but once ina while something like this pops up. I imagine changing ALL fluids periodically would help but I know I've never changed my pwr. strg. or brake fluid in 13 years and nearly 200K miles and haven't had the probs. you'd think it would cause....knock on wood. @#&* happens.

    Guys,

Thanks so much for all the useful advice.

I am going to ask if they intend to replace the rack or just try to fix the leak.

I just called NAPA, and the guy said that it would be pretty hard to just fix the leak, and put the old rack back in. If that is their plan, then I will buy a new one from NAPA and have them do the install.

Hopefully there will be no other major surprises.

    I will post my results.

    Thanks again,

    David
