First of all I want to thank tacomaworld for the vast information regarding the tacomas. I read, read and read before deciding on which lift kit to buy for my dad's gen2 tacoma [08 dcab 4x4 122k]. I decided on the 5100s, OME 885x springs and Dakar leafs. YotaDan from Wheelers helped me get all the things sorted out. I have to say that I have a gen1 tacoma [01 dcab 4x4 92k] and the parts are much heavier for the gen2. Or maybe i'm just getting old.

My dad's pretty old (83 years) and hasn't been keeping up with all his maint on the tacoma so I decided to give my dad's tacoma a refresh and ordered new toyota air, cabin air filter, oil filter, oil, diff oil, trans oil, spark plugs, regreased bearings, serpentine belt and coolant. I computed about 8 hours of actual work time to get everything out and in and I ended up with 7:47 hours.

I researched how to do the belt and double checked the fluids on TW as well. Just to make sure the G1 and G2 use of fluids were pretty similar. Luckily Toyota didn't change too much. After all of the maint was performed and the lift kit installed, I test drove it and it was driving ok. I took it to Les Schwab and got the alignment done. My dad is very happy with the setup and only wishes I bought the lift kit for him sooner.

Again, I give many thanks to TW for having so many helpful users. I would have never been able to do it without the forum.
