Just bought a 2013 Tacoma 4x4 Trd Sport DCLB. First time Tacoma owner and plan to start off-roading quite a bit once I get to Alaska in a few weeks.

This is the setup I was looking at but to be honest my suspension knowledge is extremely limited so any opinions are welcome.

    Deaver J66
    Total Chaos Upper Control Arm
Icon Front Extended Travel Coil-overs Shock Kit
    Icon Rear Remote Reservoir Shocks
Icon Lower Control Arm Skid Plates
    Wheeler's Rear Superbump Bumpstop Set
    Wheeler's Front Superbump Bumpstop Set

Is this everything I will need? Will I need longer brake lines? Any other recommendations?

    Thanks

Sounds like a great setup except for the rear leafs.

The J66 only provide 1.5" lift and are overpriced IMO.

I would go with the AllPro standard springs for a 3" lift since your front suspension will work well at 3".

Also I would get the longer rear brake lines.

    Thanks!

Really liking what I'm seeing with the AllPro stuff. Thoughts on the AllPro Expedition Leaf Springs? With the rear-bumper, full spare, equipment and what not, I might be at the 400-500 loaded weight...

So I've been reading a little bit about the AllPro leafs. It seems that these guys have around 11" of travel. Using the Icon rear shocks will this be a limiting factor? I cant seem to find the specs on these shocks to ensure that they travel more than or equal to 11".

The Deavers are a great performing spring pack. But they don't handle weight too well.
You can run extra long shocks for more travel, but you will need to either make your bumpstops taller (limit up travel) or re-mount the shocks to take full advantage of the extra length.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
If you're looking for a more "expedition friendly" leaf pack you could run the Dakars. Less flex than the All Pros, but a much higher load carrying capacity.

OK, so just to make sure I'm understanding everything correctly.

    A) AllPro leafs + Regular Rear Shock + Bumpstop
On the down travel my shock will be the limiting factor as the leaf spring has more flex than my shock has travel. On the up-travel my bumpstop should prevent the shock from bottoming out.

    B) AllPro Leafs + Extended Rear Shock + Regular Bumpstop
On the down travel my shock will travel through the range of flex from my leaf so it will not be a limiting factor. However on the up travel my bumpstop will be to short so the shock will bottom out.

    C) AllPro Leafs + Extended Rear Shock + Extended Bumpstop
On the down travel my shock will travel through the range of flex from my leaf so it will not be a limiting factor. On the up travel my bumpstop will prevent the shock from bottoming out but will also be limiting the amount of travel I get upwards.

    D) AllPro Leafs + Extended Rear Shock + BAMF Shock Relocation + Regular Bumpstop
On the down travel my shock will travel through the range of flex from my leaf so it will not be a limiting factor. On the up travel my bumpstop will prevent the shock from bottoming out and with the shock relocation it allows for full range of travel.

    Are my assumptions accurate?

    A) The various aftermarket shocks (OME, Bilstein, Icon, Etc) are already longer for lifted applications. They are about as long as you can run without modifying other components. The shock is the limiting factor on downtravel on Tacomas. You are correct.

    B) Correct

    C) Correct

    D) I don't have first hand experience with their relocate kit, but yes that would be correct.

    Dan,

Do you have a recommendation for some extended rear shocks? Can I get the Icons in an extended version? I've looked for the specs on the Icon shocks but can't seem to find them.

    Thanks.
