maybe im just lame but me myself never being anywhere but the east coast i would get a kick out of just driving and seeing the scenery, although stopping at tourist spots along the way wouldnt be a bad idea if it fit his schedule.

fly me out op, ill take off work

Same here. Bought a one way from KC to NY and drove it home over a two day period. If it's gonna have 1200 miles put on it, I want to be the one to put them on. Total spent with plane, food and gas, around $600. I'd do it over too.

I was thinking about flying out there, but I don't have that kind of time until the end of January... By the time I rent a car for a couple weeks then incur that cost as well it starts to get even pricier... I guess I'm just gonna give Cascade the benefit of the doubt right now that they'll get it done...

But I'm thinking it might cost me closer to $1,000 than the $900 that the bid is at right now...

Yay for buying a vehicle across the country!!! Haha

You'll pay a fee if you book with a Service Provider or if you choose to "market" your listing on the site a little better.

It's free to list so it's worth a shot if it will save you money. Be sure to check feedback and read the reviews.

FYI, I was an early employee at the company and worked there for 7yrs.

    Good luck!

Pic attached of XJ getting loaded up. With Nationwide Auto Transport, I often got the guys with smaller haulers. Less $ maybe.... Driver was a recent immigrant from ME and had a bunch of jesus stuff on his dash and about 20 red bull empties in teh passenger side floorboard of his truck. Quite the character :)

What I was hoping that was going to happen was someone was going to say "I transport vehicles, I'll pick yours up tomorrow for x amount of dollars"... But I'm not that lucky. DAMN!!

I say go with the carrier. A plane ride with all the extras of car rental, motel, food, lost time at work, etc. will cost you more... as you already know.;)

2,000 some miles with a big truck only getting 6 mpg with diesel over $4 per gallon. Add that up and you can see why it cost so much.

Whatever you do, do NOT ship with DAS (Dependable Auto Shippers). Absolutely horrible company with a loooong history of dirty tactics to screw people over. I haven't personally used but have heard many good things about a company called Horseless Carriage shippers or something to that affect. Don't want to just be negative w/o giving other options.

That being said... just go get it man. Trust me when I say that I've bought MANY vehicles all over this great nation and have tried it every which way and w/o a debt the most stress-free method is to fly out, drive it back. You also get to see parts of the country you wouldn't otherwise see and you'll certainly end up with stories you can tell people for the rest of your life.

For reasons some more obvious than others this may not always be possible but in the case of a newer Toyota pickup truck.. go for it! I just did this a few months ago. Buddy and I flew into Washington D.C. and drove his Tacoma the 2k miles to get it back to Colorado over the next couple of days. He HATES road trips and we had a blast. There are others on this forum that have since done the same thing and all have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I learned a very valuable lesson over a decade ago regarding shipping automobiles and the bottom line is if you can't go get it and drive it home it ain't worth it.

Ok so you can go a number of ways with this:
Uship.com is ok, it's nothing like "shipping wars" shows it to be!! Fake, Fake, Fake!!!
But from time to time you can get a decent deal, just make sure you verify the carriers insurance and that they have USDOT #'s. They can fax you all this info to know they are legit!!!!

Or you can reach out to a number of smaller carriers directly. Google Auto Transport and call different ones for quotes.

You can save alot of money by cutting out the Broker, as for the sites they are listing on, it will be a private site such as Central Dispatch which you have to pay to be a member in order to post and accept loads, along with being licensed to be a member.

If you would like to call Accelerated Services, they are a large nationwide auto transport company my buddy hauls for and they may be able to help you. Their # is (720) 200-3100 I have used them also.

Good luck with your delivery. Wish I could give you someone direct but I have been out of the biz for awhile now.

Thanks for your help brother... This info would have been ideal a few days ago. Already got a shipper lined up, and although I hate to pay the broker $235, they did find me a truck...

So it should be here next Saturday, and I'm definitely looking forward to it!

    Thanks for your reply though...

I was in the same boat you are in, adding the shipping to cost to a price on a purchase limits what you can spend. Even though you are shipping it or picking it up, my reserves were not putting my eyes, ears, and hands on it . It's hard to tell from pic's what you are buying, without a pre purchase inspection form a Toyota dealer ,I decided to wait, it took awhile but I found what i'm looking for only 1 1/2 Hour away, with that said if you feel comfortable with purchase ship it , with all this winter weather ,it's easier ,faster, and they do a good job, ENJOY

I had to call one of those brokers you find online... And they put up a price and a truck might pick it up. I started out at $800, then had to bump up to $900 and then $1,000. Truck finally said they would do it for $1,050 then I had to pay the broker $235...

And mind shipped from CA to TN... Yours will probably be like $1,600 or so... It's no cheap thrill...
