I've read the threads on how common this is, and I've also seen people say that it comes back. I'm looking for advice on a clutch kit and maybe even a separate aftermarket bearing.

The guy who owned it before me said it happened before on his previous tacoma (gen 1). What is the danger of letting this squeak go for a while?

    I'm driving a 2005 6 speed manual v6.

I have a friend with all the necessary equipment who has done this before, but he didn't really have an opinion on clutch kits.

    Thanks guys :)

If you are out of powertrain warranty, buy the URD sleeve kit. If you are in warranty, Toyota has a TSB out. The TSB is uneconomical to do if you are out of warranty and doesn't last as long as the sleeve kit.

If you let the squeak go for a while, the quill will wear more and the throwout bearing could bind, causing the clutch pedal to stick.

That's interesting, and definitely seems to solve the problem of the returning squeak. I figured while I was there, I may as well replace the clutch as well. Is that just the sleeve and modified OEM bearing? I'll go back and look at it again.

Yes, because the sleeve effectively increases the diameter of the quill, the bearing inner race has to be modified (enlarged) to fit.
