No heavy lift exp, just another A&P mechanic, if you have the experience go for it, currently the industry is rough if you dont have enough experience and are not open to traveling . I have been chasing the aviation industry since 2003, 2 Bachelor of Science, associates all in aviation. Did worked on Biz jets, did manufacturing. Its rough Sad, but im pursuing a different avenue for income, ill aways miss working on and around aircaft

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
My cousin joined the Marines and works on CH-53's. Pay sucks, deployments suck, but the experience is once in a lifetime...

Not sure if the Army is looking for mechanics for shit-hooks, but that is one hell of an impressive helo.

    Best of luck!

    Yep.
Old 53E Crewchief/Mech here, we are the heavy lift . I have been working for Sikorsky Aircraft since '09, got out in '08; S70, S76, S92, S300... almost every variant series you can think of.

Sikorsky is an excellent company to work for, top of the market. Locations are pretty limited though.

What experience do you have? Licensed A+P? Find out what companies are doing the Depot lvl maintenance around you and start tossing the resume around.

I just tried this route about two months ago. I did 9 years in the marine corps as a CH53E Avi guy and Maintenance Controller. I applied at a couple places around Aurora and got all kinds of emails that I didnt have any civilian experience... one of those places uses the CH53D. Some places here in OR you could check out are Helicopter Transport Service(just built a new hanger in Aurora. Columbia Helicopter and of course Erickson. I would recommend that if your still in the navy get your A&P before you get out. Let them pay for it. Also If you can get some NDI experience get that also. Columbia has some openings for NDI techs every once and a while. Also if you havent made a jsfirm.com profile do that. Start with that but it is hard to get into.
