My hood will shut, but won't stay latched. It stays as if the hood has been popped with the button from the inside. Anybody know what's wrong or have had this problem before?

Try cleaning and lubing the latch.

I do not have the inside button or latch-manual from the front of the truck. check to be sure the actuator is released-inside truck.
You will probably need a helper to watch.
Rust? you just might need to oil something.

Do you have something that is keeping it from COMPLETELY closing.
Like an oil rag? just a thought

Some of this Some of that
prop open hood, spray oil on cable where it exits the cable housing in the latch assembly, pry the cable with a screwdriver, have a friend inside the cab pull the hood popper. Keep spraying and prying while the person pops the hood, after a little bit it'll free up

Its a common mis-conception (among non-mechanics) that WD40 is a lubricant. ITS A SOLVENT. WD40 stands for Water Displacement formula #40. It can clean and free up sticking mechanisms and possibly remove rust because of its solvent properties. It is NOT a lubricant, like grease or oil. The best solvent, IMHO, for freeing up old rusty bolts and mechanisms is PB Blaster. Liquid wrench is good, too.

On this latch, after cleaning with SOLVENT, lube it with GREASE, not oil.

If you think the cable is sticking, disconnect it at the the latch, and see if it moves freely via the in-cab release. If it doesn't, replace it.

If you don't have the time or tools to do any of this stuff, then take it to a mechanic.

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
could it be that the little rubber "stoppers" on either side of the front of the hood above the headlights are adjusted too high not allowing the latch to catch?? just a thought..

good to go now. When i originally put the lift on i jacked the 5100's to the top with eibachs up front making the ride stiffer than a pornstars dick, which actually made the mechanism pop open. SO after lowering them down a little, making the ride smoother and lubing up the mechanism, its good to go. thanks for all the input fellas
