Aloha Guys. I have read a bunch of the threads and cannot come up with an conclusive answer. I currently have Goodyear DT's on my stock rims @ 265-70-17. I recently purchased a set of Level 8 MK6 wheels that are 17x8 4.5 BS.

My question is will this rub without installing my lift. I will be installing Billies 5100s all the way around, its just that they are taking a long time to ship to hawaii. Im thinking of installing the new rims now, but i am worried about having to cut. Taking off the mudguards are not a big deal, but i want to avoid cutting plastic.

Anyone have any insight on this issue. please let me know.

    Mahalo.

You shouldnt have any issues with rubbing with that size tire without the lift. Even if you do have to trim some of the plastic its super easy and can be done with a dremel.

You shouldn't have much rubbing, just remove the front guards, it may slightly rub occasionally on the rear mudflap on the inside. Just let the tire remove the plastic it needs to if it does. Great rim choice btw. I am running level 8 guardians on mine. Awesome direct bolt up rim.

He shouldnt have to remove any of his mud guards with that size tire. Now if he got 285's then yes hed have to remove the fronts. He should be good to go. ;)

thanks guys. I just didnt want to run into rubbing issues. if that was the case, then i would just wait for the lift. But if it should clear, then i might just go ahead and throw the rims on already.

It strictly depends what brand tire as well as some are taller then others even though they are the same sizings. As far as rubbing is concerned on BFG A/T KO'S I rub and had to remove the front guards off at 265/75/16 same size tire as what stock was supposed to be. I suspect caster has something to do with it as well but I also KNOW that even though the tires fall into the same 32" dimensions as my previous stock 265/65/16's they were substantially taller then the stock Bridgestone Duelers by visual comparison. So to say he won't rub on plastic with that sizing without first mounting the rims and tires on the truck is pure speculation on your part.

I thought stock size was 265/70/16 on TRDs not 75s

It is, however, my truck came with 18's not 16's. I just swapped out to aftermarket rims and tires Level 8 Guardians, and BFG A/T KO's

    Stock 18's = 265/65/18
    My current 16" tire/rim configuration = 265/75/16

Check the tire size calculator and you would see that there is almost no change whatsoever in tire sizing and whatever change there is, is slightly marginal to say the least, we are not talking inches we are talking millimeters. There is no reason why I should rub from a on paper standpoint, however, upon comparison of the two tires I notice the BFG A/T's are substantially larger in diameter then the stock 18's, which now causes slight rubbing.

I had a similar situation, but not exact.
    I have 16 x 8.5 Level Trackers and 265/75/16 Duratracs.
Initially with stock suspension, it would rub when turning all the way. I removed both pairs of front mudflaps. Problem solved..........

But if you were turning and hit a slight bump (like turning into any driveway), it would still rub. I installed 5100s set at 1.75, and it never rubbed again, even when turning.

Since your wheels are slightly narrower, I would say your problem will slightly less than what I experienced. You can install your wheels and tires if you are anxious....just don't turn all the way. I had mine like that for about 2 weeks before I had my 5100s installed.

    Good Luck.

Same size tires and rims here, it's totally clear, if I crank the wheel fully and bust a u-turn the odd time I feel it hit, but rarely
