    Hi Guys,

Yes, I am posting two threads at once, I'm sorry, but these are different subjects.

The other day, I got in my truck, started it, put it in drive, turned off the eBrake, and took my foot of the brake peddle. The truck went no where... I started looking around the cab, checking that I was in drive, and that the eBrake was off and then out of no where the truck lerched forward and started working.

I stopped the truck, turned it off etc – and then restarted it and everything was fine.

I'm taking it in for a free oil-cahnge at the dealer next week. The truck has 25,000 miles on it so I'm hoping the dealer will do some work on it under warranty.

This worries me because my first car, an old BMW, went through 2 automatic transmissions while it was my dad's car and then 2 more when I started driving. I am very easy on my transmissions. I never over rev it, I never use engine braking, etc. I take good care of my cars and one of the reasons I got a Tacoma was because of their reliability. Weird transmission stuff at 25k miles = scary for me. BTW - I have tow package, not sure how this affects my transmission. I've never towed anything though.

What should I do, and what should I hope for the dealership to do under warranty?

    Build thread coming soon!
I've had that happen to nearly everything I've owned. In every case, it's from either a) finishing a long trip through a rain storm, or b) washing the vehicle and parking it while wet. The brakes flash rust and stick temporarily. I think this is what you've got going on

BING BING BING – You got it!

I had washed my truck the night before and it had sat all night. This makes me feel so much better!

Could this have done damage to my rotors or pads?

Thank you so much, that makes me feel much better!

I did notice the other day, a slight bit of steering wheel shake while braking down a hill. This would mean warped rotors I think. It was VERY minor though!

I'll explain my problem to Toyota and see what they come up with but I'm sure it was this flash rust problem.

I had a Chevy Celebrity that was prone to this first thing in the morning, rain or shine. Same issue, rear drums that would just flash over and the first minute or so would sometimes lock up (1986 year, before anti-locks).

Slight vibrations may be due to the rear leaf spring TSB that I probably need.
