Hey guys which Optima yellow top is the right one for a 2013 Tacoma Double Cab?

I digged up a few thread from google, but seems like there are 2 different yellow tops that tacomas owner are running....

I am just trying to figure out which one is better and more suited for the tacoma.....

Can you express your need for a yellow top so we can state if it will meet your needs.

Personally will never buy a optima battery again due to quality decline.

You have a brand new truck and a battery with a warranty, are you running a stereo system, plow, camping equip?????

If you search on here there have been a bunch of previous threads on optima red and yellows. Optimas are typically dual post but the orientation of the neg and pos on the tacoma is odd it seems since they not typically stocked in all stores. You might have to hunt a bit.

I won't be buying any more Optima's either. They have gone down hill on quality and the heat down here in the south kills them. Not to mention actually trying to get the warranty out of them is a royal pain in the ass. Most dealers got screwed by them so it's up to you to get your money back from them under the prorated part. In other words you buy another one at full price then contact Optima and fight to get them to send you a check.

I put a yellow top in my jeep last year for winch and lighting duties and it was toast in six months. That was the last Optima I'll buy.

I purchased an Optima yellow top about a year ago to run my lights, and winch. It's never let me down. I left my interior lights on all night a couple nights ago on accident, and the truck fired right up in the morning. I guess I got one of the good ones, no complaints here!

I've been running an Optima red top in my Tacoma for the past year and its been great. Even with the -30 winters up here my truck always cranked strong and fired right up. No complaints here.

What is the part # of the yellow top you guys are running?

I just want one because it is spill proof, i dont want my factory battery to start corroding the battery tray. And i will be running lights and what not in the near future, so i want the yellow top

Sears Die Hard Platinum. Same battery tech, more capacity, more reliability, better warranty, less cost.

I swore by optima about 5 years ago but since I warrantied the last one the quality went down. Cold cranks have been less reliable and the battery developed a film on the casing within a month. I don't know for sure if it was a leak but after reading many reviews I opted to move to another brand.

None yet, need to finish the HEEP first
If I remember correctly Optima is owned by Interstate Batteries. Coffee hasn't kicked in yet so I could be wrong.

I thought I saw my battery tray is paint matched to my truck....
So I thought it is painted...

I had a 04 ranger and the battery tray got screwed with the duralast battery.

So I'm trying to prevent that from happening to my taco

If you want a good dry cell get a odessey. He is correct the top of the line model die hard is a rebranded odessey or you can look up odessey since they have their own complete line as well. Getting the platinum die hard makes it easy to purchase locally and warranty if it goes south on you.

You get what you pay for with a odessey not with optima's, way to hit and miss now.

I had bough my first Optima battery back in 2007 for my 2005 Accent. It worked better during the really cold winter months. I had the battery sit out all day, waiting for the night to come. It was below -30C and around 11 pm I started it. It took 3 turns and the car started. It was shaking it was having a seizer, but it warmed up. Never had any issues with it.
Bought a red to just after I got my 11' DCLB. Had it in there the whole time I owned that vehicle. I took it out and put it into my 13' Access Cab and never had any issues with it. When the battery does crap itself I am going to be finding a better brand. I don't want to be caught with a shit battery like others have.
