Apparently not the Toyota salesman from Diehl Toyota in Butler, PA I talked to. He insisted he had been selling Toyotas for 20 years and knows that Tacomas can't be special ordered from the factory, and that I didn't know what I was talking about. Same guy who told me there is no all weather flooring option for a 2013 Tacoma also. In fact, after talking to my first four Toyota dealerships, I was amazed at how little the sales people actually knew about Tacomas and the options that come with them. :annoyed:

Finally on my fifth dealership I was able to special order the exact Tacoma I wanted though, with the all weather flooring that didn't exist, and at a lower price than the other dealerships offered on less equipped models. :amen:

You must come West next time. We are very knowledgeable about Toyotas here at our dealership, and I especially about Tacomas! We also special order from factory all the time, including mine. Very small family owned dealership though, just 4 salesman.

most salesman are dicks. I was at Toyota the other day helping my neighbor with parts for his 95. on the way in we stop to check out the "tricked out" Baja. salesman swarm and quickly ask of our interests. we drove up in his dodge Dakota.
    (my neighbor)
"oh just looking, its a nice truck"

"yes it is, what do you have now"

"that dodge, but im trying to sell it"

"ew, im sorry, and good luck selling THAT!"

UNBELIEVEABLE! what kind of guy tells a stranger his vehicle sucks! even if it is a dodge? cant believe he was going to try and make a sale off of that remark

the guy I bought my truck off of (used car-lot that sells mostly Toyota) was the only good one I ever dealt with. at least he knew the vehicles, and even suggested a Fronty since I was after a six-speed. glad to see he was promoted shortly after my purchase. . . . probly since he made so much fuckin money off me. . . . a true salesman though. . . .respect

One can never have too many light bars.
I can't stand car salesmen. The whole car buying process in general is sketch. I was one of those buyers that knew exactly what I wanted and what they are truly going for and I still had to listen to this guy ask to finagle my payments from a 60 Month to a 72 and keep it the same just so he could move a limited. I try not to be an asshole but sometimes they ask for it. I was such an easy sale, I knew exactly what I wanted and said I want to buy it for a price as soon as I stepped foot on the lot and he still tried to upsale me. Also while I was test driving it I asked if it took 91 and he just said "no it takes unleaded." At that point I just asked to see the owners manual because this guy didn't know shit.

I had a 2.7 for 10 years and loved it. Best vehicle I have ever had, hope my '13 is just as good! But to his defense, he is right on about mileage- my buddy with the gen I V6 got almost exactly the same mileage as I did. And if I towed, my mileage would suffer much worse than his. But wear out faster? My truck had 230k miles on it with nothing to the engine other than oil. Power is only an issue if you tow heavy. I only did occasionally and yes, with a heavy trailer it was low on power.

Sorry about your Grandfather's choice in trucks. Honestly I look at some brands (Nissan, Audi, VW, Mercedes) and wonder why anyone would buy one of their hyper-unreliable cars. Even the American brands are now beating them in reliability.

As for the asshat, er salesman, he's an idiot. Even if what he said was true, all he did was insult you and guarentee you'll never buy a vehicle from him or his dealership.

Well, the salesman wasn't exactly lying. The 4 cyl mpg is not that much more than the V6, and certainly not enough more to make it a viable trade off for the power, aftermarket, and ability of the V6. The 4 cyl is definitely underpowered, especially when you get into bigger tires and a lift - at least mine was. As for wearing out faster, its not an ilogical statement as the engine has to work much harder, but ive never heard of any of Toyota's 4 cyl engines being unreliable. There is a guy on this site with almost 400k on his v6, so, the v6 will also go forever. The v6 is also worth more, but does cost more. You can only get a trd in a v6... Idk, after owning both, I'll never go back to a 4 cyl...

LOL one sales guy I dealt with tried to get his buddies to buy my trade in car directly from me rather than through the dealership so they could save money. Needless to say that is theft at a dealer, I think he was fired.

Most sales people are way too fake for me

I bought a 2004 tacoma access 4 cyl brand new. I hated it. No power. I had a guy install a billet grille and he clowned the truck for lack of power. He asked why I got a 4cyl. My wife hated it. I sold it a year later when the new Tacomas came out and they were giving the Tundra away. I got a 2005 dbl cab Tundra and never looked back. If your just buying a single cab truck to have a bed for home improvement it's fine. But I'll never buy a 4 cyl truck again personally. Sorry to hate. Just my opinion based on experience.
