The access covers (at least the literider) have a fabric/vinyl flap on the back. When you shut the tailgate that flap gets pushed in against the tailgate. I haven't applied any rubber seals along the edge of the tailgate so it does splash some drops of water when you drive in the rain, but I've never noticed water leak in along the top. The access covers allow adjustment on how low the cover is compared with the tailgate, and I'm sure if I bought the tailgate seals it would be even more waterproof than it is already.

Some of the more expensive access covers come with the tailgate seals, the literider is the lowest of the model range. Also there is a lower profile model. I like it because you still have full access to both the bed and the bed rails.

I have an Advantage Torza Top. It's a soft cover that's a tri-fold. I absolutely love it!! I bought it in June of 2007 and its still looks & works great.

It folds up and clips, so you can drive it folded up like this:

Or...it can be taken off completely & easily and doesn't interfere with bed rails.

    Jake72,

Having to open and close the tonneau cover every time I open the tailgate annoys me. With the GMC, I was able to open and close just the tailgate if I was tossing something in the bed, didn't have to touch the tonneau cover. With the Truxedo, I have to open the tailgate, toss something in, open the tonneau cover, close the tailgate and then close the tonneau cover. Not the end of the world, I admit, but having not had to in the past, it's annoying.

    Janster,

That's a nice looking cover. Are you still able to use the tiedowns on the tracks? Yes, I want to be able to do it all! :) With the Truxedo, you can still use the tiedowns on the tracks but they can't be removed from the track and can only slide between the brackets holding the cover on. I saw that they offer tiedowns on some of the sites but I haven't seen a good picture of the track or the tiedowns they sell.

Whoops, sorry Janster, I meant to say that I like 4x4taco2012's top.

4x4taco2012, can you still use the tiedowns on the rails?

Can you open and close the tailgate with having to unlatch that cover? I'm like the OP, it would annoy me having to open my cover ever time I want to close the tailgate. I do like the looks of that roll-bak though, and it's got to be more secure than mine. At least you can't cut through it with a knife.

    I'm confused!? (doesn't take much)
I can use my tailgate without doing anything to the top. Yes, the tie-downs can be moved just about anywhere except where the clamps are placed for the top. The clamps slide into the track and need to stay 'fixed' based on where the clamps are on the top itself.

Unfortunately the locking rails prevent you from using the rail system on the bed...that's my only real complaint. The instructions say you are supposed to release the locking rails (and roll the cover slightly forward) before closing the tailgate, but I rarely do and have not had any issues.

The cover is by no means perfect but it was the best solution I could find as I wanted to secure the contents in my bed and still be able to use the full bed at a moment's notice. When the cover is rolled all the way forward you have full access to the entire bed, minus approx six inches at the front (where the cover is rolled up). It's a great bed cover that hasn't gotten much press.

I have an Access tonneau that is a roll up. I've had it for about 2 years now an I love it. Has a lockable rear, allows use of the bed rail system, and allows you to open the tailgate without interference. Also has an adjustable tensioner. I got it for around $300.

This cover has been perfect. It has been on the truck since I've had it. Rolls up easy and doesn't leak water when it rains. I've taken it on 3 trips as far a way as Wyoming and Colorado 3 times with luggage in the back.
