Not trying to throw salt on the wound, but I'm really curious as to what gave you the impression that basic warranty covered roadside? You didn't miss any fine print, roadside assist has never been a standard inclusion of basic warranty.

Roadside assistance is part of the 24 months
maintenance Toyota gives you now. It also has
always been part of the warantee on Toyota
    Certified used cars.

The batteries are actually made by Interstate for Toyota, sadly like anything electrical you can have a failure at any time. If your vehicle is still underfactory warranty, Toyota will replace it no problem. When my battery failed, it started fine that morning, not so much when I went to lunch. So guess what I did for lunch that day? Most people usually get 4-6 years from a factory battery. Toyota batteries at least in this region are 84 month batteries with the first 2 years 100% cost free replacement, last 5 years are prorated.

Ok. This is going to sting a little,...In January, I bought my brand new '11 Tacoma, and sold my 10 year old 2001 Dodge Dakota w/ 86k miles on it - with the original battery still in it, working just fine. I never touched it. Never charged it. Never added water. Nothing. Even through our sometimes harsh New England winters.
I was kind of hoping that I would get even better life out of Toyota components, but, after reading this thread, I guess not....

    Bahahahahaha

I'm sorry but in Canada, Interstate batteries are crap. They just can't handle the cold. Everyone I know with one has had them last maybe 7 months tops.

My original lasted about 45k miles. It's normal. OEM batteries weren't designed to last a long time.

Mileage has nothing to do with the life of a battery. 4 years in an area that has high temps is not bad.
