I'm looking to get my first tacoma. I have wanted one one for long time and I'm finally going to do it. I've lusted after so many photos on this forum it's unreal.

Ive been looking at mostly double cab TRD off road models. But, recently a t|x and t|x pro have popped up and now i'm considering those. One difference I'm seeing is they have 16 inch rims. What is the benefit to a smaller rim? Or, is there one? I kind of think they make them look like it sits lower than the trd's, but I think that is just an optical illusion. Plus, the tubes make it seem like it hugs the ground more as well.

It seems there is love'em or hate'em attitude towards these models. Mostly I think because they are mostly cosmetic upgrades.

Any thoughts on this model? Good, bad, ugly? Stick with off road?

The t|x has 92000 miles and the t|x pro has 36,000 miles. The later has some significant scratches and wear and tear. I haven't seen the model with the higher mileage. It's two hours away.

I don't know about '11's but my '13 off road has 16" wheels. I don't know anything about tx's, I just thought if rim size was a major consideration I'd mention that.

Tacomas have had the same exact rim since release of the 2005 models. TRD-OR (gets BFG Rugged Trails) has the 16", TRD-Sport gets the 17" with dunlops (someone correct me if I am wrong), and the SR5 I have no clue (16" steel wheels correct?)

The Baja sits about 2" higher in the front. The T/X and T/X Pro are stock height.

That makes sense on rim size difference allowing more air. And, yep the sport has the 17" rims. I've been looking back and forth so many times I missed that. Thanks for pointing that out.

Any thoughts on the model in general?

The t|x with 92,000 miles is priced at $22,300.
The t|x pro with 36,000 miles is $27,988.

You might as well buy a new tacoma at those prices. You could get a '13 or '14 sr5 for the price on the latter.
