brake pads

    OEM and nothing but.

    Aftermarket pads are really hit and miss. The OEM pads aren't cheap, but you've seen how much life you get out of them.

    Go with Hawk pads, I love my Hawk LTS, stops much better than stock.

    I put on Napa pads after original set went 70k. Now with 5000 on the Napa pads, I am hearing a grinding noise when braking just before complete stop but only after several miles. Never right away. Blaming the noise on crappy aftermarket pads (ceramic but probably has more metal in them). Bought OEM pads to replace the Napa pads and noticed the OEM pads are much smaller surface area. Wondered why the difference in pad size. Does anyone know. I guess I didn't notice when I changed last from OEM to Napa brand. Anyway, hopefully the noise goes away when I get the Toyota pads on there tomorrow.

    I have a set of EBC GD series dimpled & slotted rotors and 7000 series SUV Greenstuff pads on my PreRunner with about 34K on them. Best money I ever spent on brakes on any vehicle I have ever owned. Near zero dust, stops my truck on a dime, wear like iron.

    Hawk pads are good stopping-wise but they are noisier.

    What metal sensors? You mean the wear indications? Its not that. The aftermarket pads don't even have those. seems to be fixed with the new pads anyway.

    I can't hear a difference at all, but my stopping distance is defiantly better. Whenever my buddy drives my truck, he is always amazed by the brakes compared to his 08' sport.

    OEM pads seemed to have fixed my problem. No more grinding. NAPA pads that still look like new with only 5000 miles on them are going in the trash.
