Good Gear Shop in San Antonio?

Does anyone know of a good shop in town (San Antonio, TX) that can do gears? I need to have the pinion flange on 2 differentials exchanged.

If I don't get any suggestions, I'll probably take it to 4 Wheel Parts tomorrow, but would rather go somewhere that one of you has had a good experience.

Well, y'all were no help at all, so I went it alone. I went to a place called Charlie Thrash Differential & Axle Specialists, not to be confused with Thrash Driveshaft Specialsit (douchebags).

The guy who runs the shop, whom I assume is Charlie, is really cool. I pulled up told him what I needed and he took care of it right away. I was in and out in about 20min. They even let me stand there and watch them work. I would highly recommend them, way better than a big chain store shop.

 

sorry we were not able to help but it sounds like you found someone good. I would have no idea who to use down there. Is your truck going to be ready for the meet?

 

It'll be ready to ride this Friday, but I still don't think I'll be able to get to the meet; Family stuff came up. If anything changes though, I'll be there in a heart beat.

On a better note, Charlie Thrash is exactly who I would recommend. He has been around for quite a while and knows his stuff.

A couple mechanic buddies of mine deal with him on a regular basis.

 

Cool, glad to hear I found the right place. I just needed to have my pinion flange swapped from my old diff to the new one. I'm putting the rear diff in tonight.

Not mad or anything about the lack of replies. My thread was pretty short notice.
