Does Toyota have a low-end Tacoma that doesn't come with grab handles? Or are there past models without this feature that would fit on a 2013?

I'm looking to mount mid/tweeter in A-pillars and it would be a lot easier without the grab handle in the way. I never use the grab handle anyway.

EDIT: I even looked at pictures of 5-lugs and still see a-pillar grab handles on them.

Even if they did you'd have to find a new way to secure it to the truck. The A-pillar pretty much stays in place using the 2 bolts from the grab handle and sandwiches in with the door weatherseal and slides in next to the dash. And then that brings you back to square one, where if you used plastic clips to secure on the a-pillar, and they'd still be in the spot of the grab handle unless you work something else out.

I can't imagine it blocks a tweeter install unless you are trying to instal it midway to high up on the a-pillar.

I've never seen on like that but I've never looked either. I have seen "gauge" pod replacement pillars to mount gauges in but never a blank pillar. One thing to keep in mind, one of your air bags is directly behind the A pillar cover.

Thanks for the replies. The grab handle doesn't necessarily block mounting, but it will be an interference for aiming. I have not listened to mounting location options, but with visual inspection it looks as though it may be a problem. Worst case would be reflections and a narrower sound stage. Plus not having the handle will make re-upholstering a lot easier. Wrapping vinyl or fabric around a handle will be a PITA and outside my DIY abilities.

I did have concerns about not having the two mounting bolts and potentially affecting airbags. Hence my attempt to see first if Toyota had a factory option, which implies they have addressed both of these concerns.

I'll try looking into gauge pods and see if they can be modified for my needs. Hopefully there's a passenger side gauge pod out there for those "otherside driver" countries :)
