Nobody said that shit comes out like Peter North... Now it's all over my floor and a tire lol.

Anyway... I kinda had to buy the stuff ahead of doing the normal research... I got valvoline full synthetic 5w30 and a Bosch filter... Good move or over the top? I have about 115000 miles and drive kinda hard.

    Thanks!

Careful, if it's hot, it comes out REALLY fast. Whoops too, late. :D

I would've just gone with the Toyota filter. If you're keeping the truck for a while and plan on always doing your oil changes, you can get 10 filters on ebay for pretty cheap from an actual dealer so it's legit:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/280827169004?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I'm told you can off $40 for this....good deal for a good filter.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.
Did you pull your plug before your filter? Pull your plug first and let it drain for a while, this will help slow down the flow so you don't get the load blown all over you.

I pulled the drain plug first. It came out hot... In both senses of the word and it hit my catch pan on an angle and went everywhere. I finally got it hitting the drain pan hole and the crisis was over aside from the puddle on the floor/tire.

    Fun times.

Anyone ever heard of one of those letting it's load loose when it wasn't supposed to? I want one, I'm just still a little skeptical that it's as secure as a physical plug.

Never. I've had mine for 8 1/2 years, before that my Tundra had one for 3 years with zero issues. And I used to wheel hard enough to make my skid plates get creased (not anymore though)

On the Tacoma, the Fumoto is tucked up and hidden by the skid plate, so it's protected. Not sure how it is on a non TRD Tacoma.

    ...
go with the toyota filter next time

i am a fan of the fumoto valve, i usually get home drain the oil, twist off the filter. Have a beer and tune my mtn bike then come back 20 min later, close valve and add oil. Its great i dont spill or splatter oil on the ground or even get oil on my hands.

Works for me, i can see it takin awhile for guys that are pressed for time.
Oil changes on these trucks are easy as heck!
