Will all 16'' aluminum wheels fit on 2004 taco? I hear many different things about caliper rubbing and what not. Can someone tell me?

I think your talking about 2nd gens....2005+ cause the smallest you can go on those are 16"s without modifications to the wheel or calipers. The 1st gens should be able to fit 15"s and possibly smaller.

I've seen a first gen with second gen aluminum rims, you could go that route, 6 lug of course.

Can anyone confirm that this is indeed an issue with the second gens? The only reason i am asking is bc at a 4x4 show i was pricing out tires and wheels and the guy had told me that i can not do steel wheels on my truck bc they will rub on my caliper, he then told me i needed to go with an aluminum wheel, i started looking at aluminum 16'' (aftermarket) wheels and one dealer told me i should go with 17'' so they wouldnt rub on the caliper.

material doesn't matter, just take note of the backspacing and offset when looking at wheels. You'll run into issues if those are too far from factory specs with the wheels hitting calipers

Some of this Some of that
Bullshit!! ^x2 backspacing and offset. 4.5 inch backspacing with anywhere from 0 to -12mm usually fit pretty well
