Try the new printer driver from the website i posted. If that doesn't work, then try to get all the drivers for your system updated.

I tried with the printer completely uninstalled and had someone else print somethign. Still takes me out. What I did find out is that my o-scope also loses its internet connection. I can seem to still access the NAS. So it might just be limited to internet connectivity. I have tried moving cables around again on my router and have yet to test it again.

I found an article about this earlier but didn't see the similarities. Now I do. Go and remove the DNS addresses from the network configuration of the printer and see if that helps.

Did you try a PostScript driver or the Universal driver listed from the link that krap22 posted? is it possible to compare the settings on a user's box that you know works with your settings and is also running windows 8? generally, drivers are pushed down to users through the network and everyone has the same. also have you sought assistance from your IT people? and is this a large shop? not in it for monetary gain, just like to see you get it solved:D

DNS is a good thought. Do you have DNS servers? Maybe there's a misconfiguration there.

Another direction to throw you in - are you on the same power strip as the printer? If so maybe your PC is browning out due to the printer sucking power as it works.

Completely different power. My office is a remote sales office so our network setup is a simple off the shelf router with DSL modem. nothing fancy. No Domain or anything.

Shot in the dark. Maybe the router has a security configuration setting that limits the number of devices on the network. Perhaps when the printer activates, it kicks you off?

It shouldn't be an IP issue. You would likely see a IP Conflict error. I would think your wifi adapter should have a different IP than your ethernet adapter (otherwise you'd see a conflict error every time both were on). If you turn the wifi on while you're connected and run "ipconfig /a" from the dos prompt, you can check to see that they're different.

Looks like we finally solved this... The issue was happening to the whole office. the internal network was still fine we were just losing internet. So we tried a different router and the problem was still there. We called Ricoh and they sent a guy out. he worked on it for hours. finally conceded and ordered a new main board for the copier. He put the main board in today and we discovered that the problem was there with no network connection to the copier. just AC plugged into it. Moved the copier over to a different cube and plugged it in with network and everything was fine. so we deduced that the copier was either radiating enough EMI to interfere with the DSL modem or it was causing noise on the AC line. we plugged the DSL modem into another outlet and sure enough all is fine. seem that just over the years our crappy DSL modem has become more sensitive to noise on the AC line.

Interesting. Well, glad you found a solution.

I found in the past with DSL modems not to plug them into UPS, just straight into the wall.

Hmm, no offense, but this creates a huge problem in troubleshooting. Gotta get the facts straight. You led a lot of people down the wrong path with this misinformation, and again, forgive my blountness, but this should have been an easy call (hearing others complain, a very quick test, etc.). Glad you got it fixed though.
