If you ever saw what happens at a tuning shop when you have them install an aftermarket TC or SC, you would not be posting this lol. Testing to say the least! Although that's done indoors on a dyno, not out in the street by some 19 year old idiot.

I'd get a go pro camera and take it back to them saying you don't think somethings right. Find the right recording angle beforehand so that you catch the guy in the seat, plus you can see out the windshield/windows. Hit record when you drop it off, get them on video driving your truck like idiots, then go to the authorities.

To me, this seems like a simple matter of communications breakdown. The installers should have made it clear that they would be testing the vehicle in this manner after installing the supercharger. I think it also behooves the owner to ask a few questions when dropping the truck off, such as, "How do you guys test the unit after installing it to ensure that it's working properly?" I'm not saying that it's your fault that they drove your truck the way they did, but one simple question could have potentially prevented this whole issue from occurring.

Legally, as some other people have commented, you don't have a leg to stand on. If you really want to pursue this civilly, you need to become intimately familiar with their policy and get things in writing. I guess if it was me, I would just chalk it up to experience and remember to ask more questions in the future. If there is a problem with the supercharger down the line, you just want to make sure you have plenty of documentation to show how they tested it and what their policies are.

I agree with both sides of the argument, but more so on the don't tear my truck up side. I think a good compromise that I would personally accept is maybe a couple of short blasts down an on ramp. That way they could check their work without going overboard on the "test" drive. Just my opinion.

When I talked to the service foreman who test drove my truck, he admitted to take the vehicle that fast and going to Red line around a dozen times. He thoroughly explained what he did.

I would think they would discuss things like this before install. In the test drive they put 60km on my truck which works out to 37 miles. Never mind burning a quarter tank of gas.

I hate the mentality of if anything happens Toyota insurance will cover it or they will pay the ticket. It shouldn't happen in the first place because when my truck is damaged it's not going to be the same when half my truck is repainted and I don't believe they will give me a whole new vehicle.

The general manager himself told me that it was unacceptable to go above the speed limit. I would think that the testing would of done in a reasonable manner and in fact the highway he took it down was only posted at 100km/h.

As for the questions part I was totally fine with then working within the law and 10km/h over the speed limit wouldn't make the difference or 20 km. But 60km and 40km/h over is quite over the top. Never mind the same kind of "test drive" they did the day before.

Now it all makes sense and I think all their testing is justified. They had to make sure it runs good cruising, hot-rodding, and can break the speed limit effectively on both odd AND even days.
