Factory tire jack

Those of you with at least 2" lift what do you use to make your factory jack work?

 

Floor jack.

Or do you mean out and about on the road?

 

you could keep some 2x6 blocks in the truck to add the height you need, or buy a new bottle jack with a screw adjustment top.

Which bottle jack do you recommend?

 

Bottle Jack then, most lift with easy portability (you can still keep it in the cab.

 

For the front, is it better to jack under the a arm pivot or near the lower ball joint?

Any bottle jack that fits your budget will do, very simple machines. I always jack off the spots on the frame that are in the manual, I know you can do it other places, but loading suspension (like jacking at the lower ball joint) can be a bad idea. With a good adjustable bottle jack you will be able to get the height you need without jacking up the suspension.

I use a $59 Sears floor jack. It's a compact size and it fits perfectly behind the passenger seat. It costs $44 bucks. No way in hell I am trusting that cheap little bottle jack.
