Anyone install aftermarket keypad?

Anybody think about this for their taco? I think this would be awesome, but I am not experienced with Arduino or scripting in general...

I work with Arduinos and there are so many slick things you can do with some simple C++ code. You can basically turn on and off multiple pins, run timers, use sensors to trigger events, and do keypad interaction even with LCD screens.

I make and sell paintball/airsoft simulation bomb props using Arduino-type chipsets that trigger sirens and lights. Keypad arm/disarm codes, admin menu, game modes, etc...

If it were me, I'd wire this Arduino up to the solenoid power door locks or anything. I like that it's tied into the key fob for disarming the alarm, then you could just hide the key in a body panel somewhere.

 

Could you possibly put together a parts list of stuff we would need and maybe some programming language? I would absolutely try this, but I have no idea what I am doing. I know the Arduinos are pretty cheap, but what about the keypad and stuff?

Maybe I should PM the guy on youtube and ask for his code. Is that something engineers share or is that like asking for a famous cook's recipe?
