    A.R.E. topper.

mine leaks. it always has since i bought the thing used. now i may have to sleep in there some,.like it to keep me and my gear dry.

i called ARE, and the guy said there is a replacement seal. then he said it was a 3M self sticking weather stripping. really?

anyone do this? is the seal preformed to go around the tight corners? or am i just gonna get a small spool of straight stuff.

will the old seal be a mofo to remove?

    thanks in advance.

I have a Leer and have never come across this issue. However, I would try the 3M stripping that mentioned. If you don't remove you cap much/or never you might try using clear silicone to help create a better seal.

Depending on how old the cap is, you might have a tough time removing all the of the glue residue from the old seal, but if you're just putting a new seal on that shouldn't be an issue. And I would just go with the 3M stuff, likely it will just come on a spool and you cut and size it as necessary.

Is it leaking from the windows? From the door?

Thanks. To close this. I went to my cap shop. Embarrassingly enough I put the cap on wrong. They pointed out how I didn't square it and push it all the way forward. That explains why the leak got worse. Me.

They lifted the top with a fork lift and resealed it for me. Free. I insisted they charge me something. $45. Hah nice guys.

You may end up with residue left behind. Depends on how long the shell has been on there. Mine had been on there so long that when I pulled it off, the gasket mostly stuck to the truck. I had to scrape it off with a screwdriver, all the way around the bed. If you do have any residue, make sure you get it all, or you won't have a tight seal, and it may still leak.

EDIT: Oops, disregard this, I guess. You posted back to close this while I was typing this post, so I didn't see that you had already taken care of it.
