Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I've got a set of OME Dakars to which I've added one standard leaf and one overload leaf (both Deaver). The load-handling capacity is nearly perfect, the height is a touch too high, and the ride is good until I go over a decent-sized bump on a trail -- that's when it's too harsh.
I'm looking at taking one of the Deaver leafs out, but am unsure which.
Can someone help me understand what and how an overload leaf works compared to a standard leaf? I want to get an idea how to fine-tune my leaf packs to my needs.
(What I mean by "standard leaf" is the leafs that are in the main body of the pack, usually strapped together. The overload leafs are the ones at the bottom of the pack, generally curved opposite to the standard leafs).

A standard leaf is in the active leaf pack and has to flex anytime the leaf pack flexes. These leafs are generally longer and thinner than the overload leafs because of the role they play.

Overload leafs do absolutely nothing until the standard leaf pack flexes or sag so far that it's sitting on the overload leaf. When unloaded, these leafs should not be doing anything to impact the ride. Once you're loaded down to the point where the active leaf pack can no longer support the load, they sag and rest on the overload, only then does the overload need to flex.

Thanks for the info! The extra overload is coming out this week.
