So I have posted a thread on here before... About people in Iowa and how they all dislike foreign or import cars for the most part. But this year, driving the great 2.7l taco to high school is not popular with the ford and Chevy owners, especially the few defending jeep. It's pathetic, really. I shouldn't care about it, and for the most part no I don't, but if any of you have some good facts out there it would be appreciated . Saying that they are already built in Texas and Indiana is not good enough. All anyone cares is if it's American owned. My family owns 3 Hondas, and then my tacoma. Personal preference I guess.
How about some stories from around your area? That would be interesting.

One day I told a guy my tacoma was better built than his automatic jeep. Basically just to screw with him, his reaction was hilarious but man he hates me now

I'm not arguing about it. I like the newer Ford and Chevy trucks. I think they've come a long way. One of my friends has a Duramax, and we each play off each others strengths. If we're both going to the same place and care more about how much the fuel cost, I drive. If we have more than 2 people and care about interior comfort and room, he drives. I guess read this article and see what you think though.

    http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2012/03/what-percentage-of-your-truck-is-made-in-america.html

Not only was your Tacoma made in America, but it has more American content than a Chevy does. I read in another article that the Ranger sources 35 percent of its parts from countries other than the U.S. and Canada so the Tacoma has more North American content than a Ranger. Plus I read that Toyota employs more than 21,000 people in the US. Personally I don't understand the "made in US and Canada" rating. It's either made in the US or it's made in Canada. I think maybe the US automakers have pushed it because while I have absolutely no way of backing it up I bet if you just looked at US content, the Toyota percentage wouldn't change much and the Ford and Chevy would probably show more Canadian content.

In my opinion when you look at who benefits the most, a Toyota puts more money in the pocket of the middle class worker. A Ford or Chevy puts more money in the pocket of their management and stockholders. Personally I'm not one of the 1% so I like going for the worker.

If you've read down to here, my advise is to not care what they say. Arguing in high school is just a little better than arguing on the internet. They're not going to change their opinion. All they're going to do is get pissed off. You have a cool truck. Enjoy it. I wish I had a truck as cool as yours when I was in high school. Kill them with kindness. Shrug and say whatever. That'll actually piss them off the most.

Just tell them you like your truck and ask them how their mechanic is doing since he will be seeing them anytime now
