2006 Double Cab sound upgrade recommendations

Im prepared to spend about $1,500 on the project.
I listen to hip hop, rap, alternative, dance music, etc. so quite the variety.
Id like to be able to play it enjoyably loud with good sound quality, no competitions or that stuff.

Decided against running rear speakers which was able to cut my spending by about $400 overall.
Now instead of blowing $500 on the 5 channel Alpine PDX-V9 ill use two seperate amps, one for the fronts and one for the sub.
Confirmed:
IDQ10V4D4 positive reviews everywhere about this sub.
Hybrid Audio Imagine I61-2 for the fronts, again all positive reviews and seem to be the best speakers for $300 range
X5500BHS head unit for its back up camera option and its android bluetooth pandora capability

Looks like a great setup! Just so you know, TW members get a little discount on sound deadening from Raammat. You have to call and talk with Rick. Another TW member bought this package and it was enough for the doors on his double cab with three sheets of the sound deadener and three yards of the foam (Ensolite). He also wrote about the install and the Raammat here.

Also, how's your remote start system doing?

The Viper system is rocking on, everything works perfect.
The only thing I noticed is that if I use the remote start and then remotely cancel it, my lights seem to stay on I think and will drain the battery.

 

Yeah, I had to break myself of the habit of leaving the lights in the ON position when I turn my truck off. That way, if for some reason I have to remotely turn my truck off the headlights aren't still on. They'll turn off eventually I think. Maybe 20 minutes later?

Anyway, back to the point of your thread... I haven't used Raammat or Ensolite before, but there are guys here that swear by it.

 

Lol, shit that must be what it is because I always leave my light switch in the on position.

Yep, you have to be all old school and turn the headlights off. Waste of time! lol

I like your plan to hold off on rear speakers. You can always add them later if you decide you want that rear fill. A lot of gurus say rear speakers ruin the sound stage. But I say if you like the sound better with rear speakers then throw in a good set back there.

And I'm glad to know your priorities are in the correct order. Audio before lift.

 

hah yup, I hate wastin that 1 second getting out of the truck lol.

I was originally going to go with rears but I decided to focus on the fronts. Im not going to be listening to my truck from the back seat, and even if I do im sure it will be a HELL of a lot better than what i have now.
When I bought the truck the front speakers/tweets were missing, so i havnt had real music in my truck since ive owned it. That is about to change my friend

Im itching for the lift kit too but I thought it out and decided to go with the music that ill use everytime im in the truck instead of the lift kit which honestly will just look nice and make it that much more difficult to load dirtbikes in the back lol
And besides, if I lift it then I have to buy the N fab steps... and if I buy the N fab steps I have to buy the grillcraft... and if i buy the grillcraft then i have to... you know.... >.>

Haha. I know what you mean all too well.

 

I got my head unit in today, waiting on front speakers and building the sub box to finish the project.
All deadening and wiring is done except for what needs to wait for front doors.

I have to say I am AMAZED at what the deadening and slight increase in head unit power did for my stock rear speakers. Before I had my stock HU turned up to 52 to be able to hear them with windows opened on the freeway.
With the x5500 at volume 14 these things are KICKING
They should make good fill for my HAT Imagine fronts

 

Yeah, just replacing the head unit helps a ton. How much deadening did you get?

I bought the #1 package from RaamAudio and it was perfect for full coverage of all four doors and the back of the cab.

Been a few years, I have had absolutely no issues. I have taken multiple 10 hr road trips with friends and everyone enjoys the system.
