As far as I know you have to cut into the harness for brake lights. The only other way would be to wire it to a trailer plug and have the plug always plugged into your trailer receptacle. I tapped into my left tail light harness, the part that stays with the tail light assembly. After I finished splicing, I put silicone into the splice connectors and wrapped the whole deal with 3M tape. I'm confident in it. However, if there was every any problem, that section of harness would be real easy to replace. Plug and play.

I ran a wire all the way forward into the cab and used a fuse tap for interior light power. Others have said there is constant power at the trailer harness, I have never looked.

I just realized that you can't use the trailer plug for brake lights. Although the turn and brake bulbs are separate on the truck, the trailer plug combines them. If you tap the trailer harness, the camper brake light will flash.

    .
For the canopy light your best option is to run a wire down between the cab and bed, zip tie it to the frame and run it up to the battery with a fuse and solenoid for a switch. You could run a hot wire and put a switch in the bed somewhere or you could run the switch in the cab.

For my canopy light, I tapped the running light wire at my tail lights. That way, the camper shell lights can't be left on accidentally but the downfall is the parking lights have to be on for the shell light to work. For me, it's perfect but if you camp in it, it could get annoying.

For the brake light, I tapped the brake wire at the tail light as Joe mentioned above.
