I just purchased a new 2013 Limited Tacoma ten days ago. After leaving the house tonight I notice a heavy rattle or clattering around the read end. It's very noticeable if you hit a uneven spot on the road and seems to be worse driving back home. Visually everything looks good under the truck without any fluids leaks. The spare tire is locked tight in place. I plan on taking it back to the dealership on Tuesday to have the service department look at the truck. Has anyone else had similar problems.

No but it sounds like your exhaust pipe is rattling on your frame. Crawl under the truck and look to see if it came out of the hanger or if it is close to something. May save you a trip.

Checked the exhaust system this morning and everything is normal.

Check the bed bolts? Anything in the storage compartments in the bed? Description of the sound may help with a diagnosis.

Make sure u-bolts are tight and also, there are a few heat shields in the back half of the truck. One of them could have rattled loose and is laying on either the exhaust of the drive shaft.

Thanks for all the help. The Toyota dealer found that the step bars were not properly seated and would move if the vehicle would hit a hard bump. Glad it wasn't really anything mechanical.
