I am planning on buying new tacoma with trd offroad package but it is only offered with short bed truck. Does it make any sense financially to buy long bed truck and get locking differential and other trd offroad mods afterwards? What would be the approximate cost? Thanks for any advice. Kris

Do you think the extra 1 foot of bed space is a requirement for you?

Do you think you will be offroading enough to warrant the off road package?

I want to get a camper shell that would allow me to sleep inside when i camp. I will not do a lot of off road driving but I like the idea of having that option.

If you aren't going to be doing a lot of off road driving, why not just get the 4wd Sport (SR for 2014) or 4wd SR5? Is the locker going to be necessary for when you do go off road?

I would recommend this as well. I only used the locker a few times, but it was nice insurance to have. If you are set on camping IN your truck then long bed would make sense. Buying locker after market will run $1100-2000 depending on what you want to get.

4wd long bed. The 4wd comes in handy if you don't plan to off road a lot but want that piece of mind.
