Just ordered a 2014 Tacoma TRD 2 wheel drive, fully loaded. that i will get in OCT. is there anything i need to make sure i check and get for the new truck right from the start? i live in florida, and am buying this in TN, so the first drive will be a long one, and that kind of worrys me for a long trip right out the gate while everything is sealing up for the first 500 miles.

    Welcome to TW

Just make sure it's what you ordered... For the engine, make sure you vary speed occasionally for engine break-in.

^This. Also, when I got a new car years ago it was recommended that you don't go past 75mph or over 3500rpms while breaking in the engine along with not flooring it. Wouldn't be a bad idea either to get the oil changed after you get it home or at 500 miles if you don't hit that on the drive home. Wouldn't hurt to get another oil change at 1,000 miles. By then it should be pretty much broken in.

thanks for the advice, i like the changing the pil after the 500 straight miles. that makes a lot of sense.

I say after 500 miles so that way any debris that may be in the engine from the factory will be flushed out.
